Amanda McLean

Amanda has lived in Kununurra for more than 20 years.  She has worked in small business and local government prior to becoming self employed in 2009.

Together with her husband Phil, Amanda is a managing director of Ord Machining and Ord Agricultural Equipment in Kununurra.

Amanda has three children who all attend East Kimberley College.  She has been involved in many sporting clubs and was a board member of the Ewin Early Learning Centre for many years.

Amanda has been a board member of the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce for 4 years and has recently moved from the role of Treasurer into President.  As a rate payer and a business owner, together with raising a family in the East Kimberley Amanda has a firm interest in the region growing strong from both an economical and livability perspective.

Kerry Robertson

Kerry moved to Kununurra in 2003 with her husband, who was working as a helicopter mustering pilot.

She has raised and home schooled her four children in Kununurra and was an active member of the Kununurra Home School Co-op.

In 2008 they started Ord Valley Hay, and in 2009 they brought Kununurra Home Hardware. In 2016, they brought a second retail business, Shelf Supply – Camping Clothing & Rural Supply. Kerry’s back ground qualifications are in finance, she was assistant branch manager of the ANZ bank, and focused on managing lending for small businesses.

Kerry is passionate about supporting small businesses and their role in strengthening the local economy. She welcomes the opportunity to support her community through being part of the EKCCI.

Co-Vice President 

Elizabeth Brennan

Elizabeth is the co-founder of a regionally focused consultancy, agdots, and has facilitated several community, agricultural and leadership development programs and fresh produce marketing strategies in regional WA, across Australia and in Papua New Guinea. Whilst a relatively new Kimberley resident, Elizabeth loves and has long advocated for regional communities through various leadership roles and development projects, and is nominating to the Board to further bolster the important collaboration, promotion and advocacy work of the EKCCI.

In addition to her consulting work, Elizabeth is a Board Director with Rural, Regional and Remote Women’s Network and a Councillor with the National Farmers’ Federation Young Farmers’ Council. She has also been a Commissioner with the Agricultural Produce Commission, Non-Executive Director with ASX-listed company Wide Open Agriculture and Board Director with Australian Women in Agriculture. Elizabeth is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation and recently completed a Master of Food Security focussing on food security in the WA Wheatbelt.

Treasurer

Michelle McKenzie

Michelle is the Principal of Mira-Consulting, a consulting firm based in Halls Creek that works with for-purpose organisations to drive positive social and economic impact through strategy, research, engagement, advocacy, funding partnerships and collaboration. Michelle has a passion for stakeholder engagement and corporate governance to drive Board strategy to deliver value.

Prior to moving to Halls Creek and founding Mira-Consulting in October 2022, Michelle was CEO of Shelter WA, the peak body for social and affordable housing and ending homelessness in WA, an Executive Director at the Department of Regional Development responsible for the Royalties for Regions Program, led the regional community relations team at Rio Tinto Iron Ore, and was the Executive Manager Infrastructure at the WA Local Government Association (WALGA). Michelle has strong professional networks across State and local government, industry and the not-for-profit sector.

Secretary 

Tony Chafer

Tony has lived in Kununurra for a total of 23 years after first moving here in 1987. He is married with three children and his wife, Michelle, grew up in Wyndham. Tony has a Masters in Business Administration Shipping and Logistics.

Tony has been the CEO of Cambridge Gulf Ltd since 2007 and we operate the Port of Wyndham, import, distribute and retail fuel, own and operate a hotel, own and operate a road logistics company and have number of joint ventures with traditional owners across northern Australia.

Tony is also the Deputy Shire President, a Director of the Gelganyem Trust, a volunteer fire fighter and a community rep on the District Health Advisory Committee. He has previously been the Chairman of Ord Valley Events, Chairman of the Ewin Early Learning Centre, a Board Member of the East Kimberly College and have also been on the Board of EKCCI.

Mitch Bowman

Mitch has been running MRB Plumbing for 15 years and is based in both Kununurra and Halls Creek and would like to see the Halls Creek Businesses supported.

He would like to join the board to provide insight into how government filtering works for local businesses and how it affects the growth and development of local businesses.

He can provide a communication channel giving information and feedback from the frontline of the construction industry in both Halls Creek and Kununurra.

Dylan Hearty

Dylan is a relatively new addition to the Kimberley community after moving to Broome in 2017 and Kununurra in 2019.

A mechanical engineer by training, Dylan worked as a consultant across a broad range of industry sectors before moving into a marine renewable energy start-up. Following the relocation to Broome (and a short stint doing FIFO to Wales, UK), Dylan entered the Public Service at the Kimberley Development Commission, first focused on maximising the participation of Kimberley businesses in State Government contracts, and then moving into a Director role for Economic Development.

Dylan now works in the Customer Solutions Division of Horizon Power, managing a variety of renewable energy projects throughout the State.

Dylan is also committee member of APEX Kununurra, Fair Game Australia, and the Lake Kununurra Barramundi Stocking Group (+ a new dad).

Through his volunteering and professional work, Dylan aims to help grow what the East Kimberley has to offer as a place for business to thrive, raise a family, and be part of a vibrant, inclusive, and safe community.

Bobby  Henggeler

Robert (Bobby) Henggeler was born and raised in the Kimberley, growing up on Kachana Station a small family run pastoral station near Kununurra.

Home-schooled in Kimberley school of the air and Schools of isolated and Distance Education allowed Bobby to grow up in the outdoors.

Later moving to Kununurra Bobby started an apprenticeship and successfully completed qualifications to become a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Moving away for a few years to Perth he gained skills and experiences working for various aviation companies at Perth’s Jandakot and International airports.

2012 saw Bobby return to Kununurra and work as a sole trader contracting his maintenance services to aviation Businesses in the East Kimberley, complete his pilot licence for both fixed wing and helicopter and now spends his time and energies between Kununurra and Kachana station.

With no intention of leaving the Kimberley, Bobby is passionate about the opportunities the region offers. Involved in various clubs and committees with the aim to serve and promote our Community.

Darren Fulcher

Darren has lived in the East Kimberley for over 30 years.

Darren was drawn to the Kimberley due to the building and development potential of the region. After settling into the area, Darren established DE Carpenters – Registered builder. DE Carpenters has completed many commercial and residential projects in Kununurra and the East Kimberley.

A keen swimmer, Darren is on the Lake Argyle Swim committee and a Life Member of the Magpies Football Club.

As a business owner and long term resident, Darren has a strong interest to promote the region to its full potential. The opportunity to join the EKCCI board allows him to follow his interest and be involved in the development of the area.

Kate Cooke                                                                                                                                         

Kate Cooke is driven to join the board to help contribute to the continued growth and development of the East Kimberley region. As a local term local of 25 years and small business owner she is invested in working with and assisting the EKCCI with their vision for a strong, thriving regional economy that supports the small businesses and broader community of the East Kimberley.

Kate has 20+ years of administration experience in both government & private sectors as well as owning a small business in Kununurra this provides a broad understanding of different processes and guidelines as well as a local understanding of the community.
